Each year automotive systems are becoming smarterthanks to their enhancement with sensing, actuation and computationfeatures. The recent advancements in the field ofautonomous driving have increased even more the complexityof the electronic components used to provide such services. ISO26262 represents the natural response to the growing concerns interms of the functional safety of electrical safety-related systemsin this area. However, if the functional safety analysis of digitaldevices is quite a stable methodology, the same analysis for analogcomponents is still in its infancy. This paper aims to explore theproblem of fault analysis in analog circuits and how it can beintegrated into the design processes with minimum effort. Themethodology is based on analog language manipulation, analogfault instrumentation and automatic abstraction. An efficient andcomprehensive flow for performing such an activity is proposedand applied to complex case studies.
